All this allowed to compete A6 with leaders in the class BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Car and Driver magazine included Audi A6 in top ten cars in 2000 and 2001.Also sports modifications of the A6 car – Audi S6 with the engine of 4.2 l were issued., and also more powerful modification of the Audi RS6 with the engine of 4.2 h.p. two 450 h.p. turbochargers was, also the limited Audi RS6 plus series with the engine of 4.2 l was released. also with two turbochargers with slightly increased power of 480 h.p., modification of RS6 plus was available only in a body "station wagon".
